Gulunba Charges Into Battle

January 09, 2018|hyper

Hey Hypers,

Get ready to thrash the competition with Gulunba! Gulunba is a hot blooded Tank dead set on crushing all of his foes under the weight of his flail and banner. No opponent will be able to get away from him once he sets his sights on you. Gulunba will be added to the game as part of Official Launch on Wednesday the 17th.

Skill Overview:

Passive - Indomitable

Gulunba may start calm, but his Defense and Health Regen effects increase with every blow.

War Chief's Presence (A)

Gulunba's heads each can give allied Hypers boosts to their combat effectiveness. The left head boosts Defense and Movement Speed and the right boosts Defense Penetration and Life Steal to anyone within 800 units. When the skill is used again, the head in command will switch.

Banner Jab (Q)

Gulunba stabs with his banner to do significant damage and reduce enemy movement speed.

Crushing Flail (W)

Gulunba brings his flail down on his enemies hard enough to leave them downed.

Flail Swing (E)

Gulunba uses this around-the-world swing to damage and launch his foes.

Behemoth Charge (R)

Gulunba charges into the fray, damaging and launching enemies in his way. His Movement Speed increases greatly while charging, and he ignores all interference effects. When the charge finishes or the skill key is pressed again, he lets out a triumphant bellow that does damage and launches them again.

Using Gulunba’ Skills Effectively:

Gulunba is the ultimate on the go Tank. He is built with a large amount of crowd control in mind for his aggressive style. You can very quickly lock down one or a group of enemies with Crushing Flail and Flail Swing. Using them one after the other will allow your team to move in and capitalize on the enemy when they can’t react. You can follow it up with a Banner Jab which will slow the enemy’s escape and allow your team further time to end them. Being on top of which head is in command with War Chief’s Presence will also give your team a boost to either defense or offense. It could mean the difference between a win and a loss in a large team fight. Lastly, if anyone is ever in trouble or you need to run down an enemy, use Behemoth Charge to get the largest movement speed buff in the game and run down your opponent. Your enemy won’t even have time to react before you are on top of them.

Recommended Build:

War Chief Helm,  Kevlar Helmet, Rage Potion, Highwayman’s Helm, Dread Mantle, Devil’s Jacket

Gulunba is who you always want to have at the front of your charge. You’ll want to build up his defense as much as possible and grab extra run speed whenever possible. The new Highwayman’s Helm will grant you a huge bonus to health regen and health restore every time you kill a minion. This will allow you to stay at the front lines longer without needing to run back to base. War Chief Helm will give your team higher level buffs with either defense or attack, so make sure to stay at the front lines with this as much as possible. Lastly, building defense and health regen with items like Kevlar Helmet, Dread Mantle and Devil’s Jacket will all also serve the purposes of keeping Gulunba at the front lines where he belongs. Remember, above all else you never want to be away from the front lines of battle. Create your build to do just that.

Not sure what to build? As always, you can hop into our Discord to discuss itemization with other players.

You can blast into the battlefield with Gulunba for a mere 15,000 GP or use a Hyper Coupon, which you can earn by leveling up and playing games.

Remember: I’m Gulunba… No I’M Gulunba!
